NEW DATE (virtual) June 2021! 10th International Congress on Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome
Time & Location
About the Event
Do to the Covid19 pandemic, this event has been postponed to June 2021 and will be held virtually. Updated registration information etc. will be posted on the congress website at http://www.sdscongresscambridge.com.
Here is the offical cancellation letter from the organizing committee:
Dear SDS community,
We are very sorry to say that we have been forced to cancel the International Congress on Shwachman Diamond
Syndrome which had been due to take place on 6th-9th April in Cambridge, UK.
We did everything we could to allow the Congress to go ahead as planned but the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak
has left us no option but to postpone it. Travel restrictions imposed by governments and attendees' institutions in
response to the outbreak are preventing a very large number of people from attending. Many attendees also have
serious concerns about the risks posed by the virus.
In light of the increasing risks and in consultation with the Congress's supporters, we are postponing the congress
until April 2021. We will let you know the exact date later in the year.
Thank you for your support for the Congress. We are very sorry that we have had to cancel and for the inconvenience
that has caused.
Best Regards,
Flavia Pizzini

Dear colleague
10th International Congress on Shwachman Diamond Syndrome:
Ribosomes in health and disease
As chair of the organising committees, it is my privilege to invite you to the 10th International Congress on Shwachman Diamond Syndrome, which is being held from 6th to 9th April 2020 in Cambridge, UK.
SDS is a rare condition but it is the focus of research worldwide because of the impact it has on patients and their families and the fascinating scientific problems associated with it. The 10th International Congress on SDS continues the tradition of meeting every two years to report outstanding new research and clinical developments from around the world relevant to those with an interest in SDS and related ribosomopathies. We are delighted to have assembled an outstanding array of speakers for the 2020 Congress. A particular focus will be ribosome biogenesis. Many world leaders in this field have accepted invitations to speak.
We are proud to welcome you to the historic city of Cambridge for the 10th Congress. Scientific sessions will be held in the landscaped surroundings of Robinson College’s purpose built conference centre. The Congress also includes a gala dinner in the magnificent 16th century hall of St John’s College. Four star en suite accommodation is available for Congress attendees at Robinson College as are a punting trip on the lovely river Cam and a chance to see some of Cambridge’s outstanding sights.
The Congress would not be possible without the involvement and sponsorship of the many outstanding organisations supporting people with SDS and their families. We extend our thanks in particular to SDS UK, SDS Foundation, SDS Canada, Shwachman Diamond Project, Associazione Italiana Sindrome di Shwachman, Shwachman Syndroom Support Holland and the family of Quinlan Kohn.
We look forward to meeting you in Cambridge for a fascinating and memorable event.
Yours faithfully
Alan J Warren
